October 2011

I learned about electronic health records program (eRecords) , telemedicine program (eMedicine), eLearning program (eLearning) when I attended the one day eHealth seminar conducted by the University of the Philippines-Manila National Telehealth Center (UPM-NThC) last October 7, 2011 at Pedro Gil UP Manila.

I have been in the practice of medicine for the last 20 years and into teaching nursing courses for 6 years, and the seminar provided me with information regarding the practice of eHealth.

Charting or Documenting is the process of making an entry on a client’s record. Client’s record has several purposes: communicating with other member of the health team, education, and research and for legal, auditing and reimbursement purposes.

Personally I have used eLearning when I had my distance education courses. In a way I practiced eMedicine , when I did Filipino health podcasts  and for sure I am would like to put into use a simple electronic medical records for my clinical practice.

Most of the attendees were young registered nurses and this is actually the right time for them to learn eHealth especially about eRecords: electronic medical record and electronic health record. In the years to come, all hospital-based practice will surely have eRecords as part of their system.
