Its once again the start of the semester, we all have to go back to our books and lessons .Though for some it might be the start of your nursing care management subjects and to some this semester means you are nearing the end of being a full time student.
My father used to say that “student days” are the happiest times of your life probably the most meaningful and eventful in your young adult years. For one, your only responsibility will be to care for your own and your studies and nothing else.
Maybe that is the reason why I always go back to school, I have spent at least 15 years of my life going to school and earning 4 degrees to my name. Up to now, I am still in school and this time giving back the knowledge to those who are eager and willing to learn.
There’s no sure formula that is applicable to everybody that can guarantee passing the course, but I can share to you some of how I did it. I took my last two courses when I was already a mother, wife and working at the same time.
Of course, one has to have a compelling reason why you are taking such a course. You should like it meaning you are enjoying what you are doing. In going to class, specially your 7 am class, never skip breakfast, physiologically you have to be prepared. One has to have a study time everyday, FOCUS AND FOCUS , when studying. No cell phones, MP3’s, IPod’s, chat etc. Try to focus for least 30 minutes to 1 hour and its enough for the day’s lesson. DO this everyday. Study from Monday to Friday and by weekend, take time out for yourself, meaning leave your books and enjoy the weekend. One should have patience and perseverance day by day.
With the availability of different study resources, such as the internet, Xerox copy of notes, online dictionary/ lectures, videos , easier communication with classmates, all sorts of notebooks and pens , popular editions books and of course the ever reliable laptop with most schools being WIFI zones, its much easier to study and learn anything.

Good evening ma’am Peña.
Wow, Thank you for those inspiring words maam. I’m very thankful to my parents because they let me chose the course I like and give their full support to me that’s why I’m trying to do my best and I do not want to disappoint them. The capping and pinning ceremony is fast approaching and I am so excited. I still have lots of minor subjects to take but I know everything will be fine. I love being in school. Even there’s a typhoon or flood I still try to go to school as long as there is no warning yet. I agree with you maam, I also want to focus on my studies so I’m doing the same thing….
Even though it’s hard for me to survive the five straight days of studying not only to one subject and topic, I’m still trying to manage my time and make sure to finish my homework. Sometimes I can’t force myself to read for some reasons that I can’t explain, maybe it’s because something’s interrupting my inner consciousness. I experienced it once when I was on the middle of my concentration while reading, there’s something’s bothering me. I look straight at the ceiling with blank mind… and when I tried to get my focus back, it was then I realized that I really don’t understand every single word that I read… funny isn’t it? But that was true. So I prefer to study during discussion with the help of my beloved professor, so that I can understand each topics easily, and by that I can answer those questions that’s running through my mind, Like why do some people have pruritus even when they are practicing proper hygiene??? Those questions were answered and I think I have expanded my vocabularies because of that. I am so interested with every lecture, participate and listen attentively during class. Even though we have our surprise quiz, I know in myself that I can answer it correctly and proudly because I am confident to tell everyone that I understand every single detail we lectured. The most important thing that I’m pointing at is that, no matter how hard they reversed their questions, flip it from front to back or upside down once you understand the lecture TRUST me…… you can answer those with a smile on your face.
And I want to suggest not force their selves to study if their heart’s telling them to, but their mind and body can’t work it out. Try to focus on class, they can take down important notes, the rest take it down to their hearts and minds. Then when you’re at home, rest and relax your physical and mental being. You can start it by having your snack, embrace your parents and try to make them understand that you cannot do your chores because you have to relax for another tiring tomorrow. Chat with your friends for a small time. After that, prepare yourself for bed. While lying down straight to your comfortable bed, try to recall on your mind the things you have learned earlier… if you forgot something, open your notes for some refreshments….. You don’t have to memorize it you have to understand and love it. So if tomorrow comes, you’re well prepared.

Yes Dra. You’re right some it might be start Nursing Care Management; some are nearing the end of being full time student. For me as a nursing student we are in the middle fight, middle of journey because the more you level up the more you work hard, but it is a very important momentous to us as a student. Dra. You are an inspiration, a role model as a mother, as a Clinical Instructor and when you are a student. For me my perception to others when they having a family it is a big responsibility and obstacle to continue his/her dreams but in your case it is not hindrance to success in life. Now, there is a change in my perception after I read your very inspiring message.
DREAM, DREAM AND DREAM together your action and being a patience
Because someday you’ll take advantage on what you had work hard.
I hope Dra. You still post an inspiring message for us to read more and inspire us with your message. Thank you and GODBLESS.
